Information
House Rules (The FAQs)
Do you take reservations?
No. We operate strictly on a first-come, first-served basis. We cannot accommodate call-ahead seating.
Can I bring my dog?
Dogs are absolutely welcome on our outdoor patio! However, due to Massachusetts health codes, pups are not permitted inside the restaurant (unless they are service animals).
Where are the fries?
We do not have a fryolator! Our kitchen focuses on delicious craft sandwiches, fresh salads, and light, cafe-style bites.
Can I use the bathroom?
Our restroom facilities are extremely limited and are strictly reserved for guests currently dining at the cafe. (Use the map on this page to find public restrooms around the city!)
Can we bring our massive 15-person ghost-hunting crew here?
We generally cannot accommodate parties larger than 6 people. It’s a cozy, bustling bohemian cafe, not a banquet hall. If you show up with a busload of your closest friends, you’re going to have a hard time finding a single table for everyone.

October & Fall Survival Guide
OCTOBER IN SALEM IS CHAOS. HERE’S HOW WE HANDLE IT:
October is a great time of year, but it is also our busiest. To make sure we can serve everyone who sits down, we do NOT offer takeout on weekends (Friday through Sunday) in October. Wait times will be longer,
the room will be packed, and the vibe will be fast-paced. Grab a beer, be patient with our staff, and soak in the Halloween madness.
Accessibility Statement
ACCESSIBILITY AT GULU-GULU Gulu-Gulu Cafe is wheelchair accessible. However, please keep in mind that we are a very popular, bustling spot with a cozy layout, and navigating the floor can sometimes be tight when it’s crowded. Our restrooms are accessible, but they are limited in number, so there may occasionally be a wait. If you need any assistance or accommodations when you arrive, please don’t hesitate to ask a staff member.
Get Involved (Music & Art)
WANT TO PLAY A GIG OR HANG YOUR ART? We are a hub for local musicians, visual artists, and performance art. We host live music throughout the week and feature rotating visual artists on our walls.
Want to test the waters? Come to our famous Open Mic Night every Thursday! It’s open to musicians of all ages. Sign-ups start at 7:30 PM, and there’s never a cover charge. If you want to book a dedicated gig or showcase your visual art, drop us an application and show us what you’ve got.
